John P. Cowan (1920 - 2008) was active/lived in Texas, Tennessee. John Cowan is known for Quail hunting and fishing.
John P. Cowan (b. 1920)
Born in Bristol, Tennessee, John Cowan studied art at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn New York, working under Norman Rockwell.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Cowan's favorite subjects are quail hunting and redfish fishing. All classic Cowan scenes are instantly recognizable as authentic and accurate representations by sportsmen who have waded the flats and hunted the brush.
Chosen as one of the top twelve contemporary outdoor artists in America in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of "Sports Afield" magazine, Cowan's works have appeared in such magazines as "Fortune," "Life," "Look," "Esquire," "Outdoor Life" and "Sports Afield." His works also appear in "John P. Cowan: A Texas Treasure."
